R&B singer who sang the song by Prince I Feel for You was a big hit. I Feel for You by Rufus is widely regarded as a huge success. She also is the frontwoman of Rufus. Khan was raised as the daughter of a Catholic. She studied at the Hyde Park Saint Thomas the Apostle Church's primary school. Her mother is the reason she was getting her into jazz while she was a young. Khan became a fan of blues and rhythm in her teens and when she turned eleven formed a girl group named the Crystalettes that included her sister Taka. Khan was also committed to civil rights with Connie Khan's father second wife in the 1960s, attended several rallies. In 1967, she joined with the Black Panther Party and became close to Fred Hampton a Chicago born activist. While many people think that Khan was a Chaka as she became a member of the Panthers but she says her name was given by Yoruba Baba gave her the name Chaka Adunne Aduffe Karifi around the age of thirteen. She left in 1969 from the Panthers in 1969, and left high school after attending Calumet High School, and Kenwood High School. (Now Kenwood Academy). The singer began performing in smaller groups throughout the Chicago area, initially performing with Cash McCall's group Lyfe that included her boyfriend at the time, Hassan Khan. Chaka married Hassan in 1970.
